WA universities discuss possible merger

Western Australia’s public universities are facing serious challenges including plummeting research grants and student numbers and could benefit from merging, the state’s chief scientist has claimed.

But University of Western Australia’s academic board chairman said there was no evidence amalgamating the universities would lead to significant improvements.
