The AFL have responded to the infamous goal umpire mistake that cost Adelaide victory against Sydney – and possibly a finals berth – with a series of changes to the score review system heading into the finals series.
According to a report by the Herald Sun, the league will implement a senior ARC official with direct contact with all umpires, who has the power to urge the goal umpire to delay making a decision should they believe it needs to be double-checked – a change from the current system where only a field umpire can suggest the goal umpire call for a review.
