Family of slain mum say there were warning signs

McGill Street is quiet. Some gardens are dry and overgrown.

There’s a house with an unpainted fence, its letterbox overflowing with mail.

Kardell Lomas had lived in the house, which was not quite a home. She had always wanted a white picket fence.

She had wanted the full family package. She had wanted to be happy and loved.

But, at seven months pregnant, Kardell is found lifeless in the boot of a broken-down car in the backyard.
