Cheering in court as Perth man who stabbed ex-wife to death handed life sentence

A Perth man has been sentenced to life in prison over the violent murder of his ex-wife late last year.

Paul Cannon, 55, stabbed his 51-year-old ex-wife Lynn to death in their Landsdale home on December 5 before attempting self-harm, the Supreme Court of Western Australia heard on Friday.

Lynn Cannon, 51, was murdered in December 2022.

Judge Anthony Derrick said he was satisfied Paul had intended to take Lynn’s life on the night of the murder, but that it was not premeditated or planned.
